Description:

Wise Owl Day Care Centre is a licensed, non-profit child care centre. We provide programs for infants, toddlers, pre-school, full day before and after kindergarten, and a before and after school-age program. We are one of Renfrew County's largest childcare facilities, hosting children ranging in age from infant to school age.

Wise Owl Day Care Centre is currently recruiting a Primary Educator. This position will cover a maternity leave and is available immediately. The eight-hour shifts are between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

Job Summary:

  • Develop authentic relationships with children and their families.
  • Create an environment for children that facilitates their learning by extending their interests and encouraging exploration, and engagement, while supporting holistic development.
  • Observe and document how the learning happens in children’s play.
  • Read and follow the policies and protocols annually.
  • Be confident in the use of technology (messages, email, zoom, internet, Apple platform etc.)
  • Be aware of and engaged in professional development and current practices.
  • Work outdoors a minimum of 2 hours per day except in extreme weather.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of the goals and program statement of the Wise Owl Day Care Centre.
Qualifications
  • An early childhood education diploma or degree.
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • A criminal record check with a vulnerable screening check.
  • Qualification in First Aid and CPR.
  • A current record of immunization.
  • Certificate of qualification in WHIMIS, anaphylactic training, and occupational health and safety.
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of children’s development and the ability to recognize and describe the children’s learning by creating pedagogical documentation.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • A high degree of initiative and dedication.
  • Ability to cultivate authentic, caring relationships and connections to create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults and the world around them.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team while taking a leadership role.
  • An understanding of and an ability to apply the principles of the Provincial documents Early Learning for Every Child Today and How the Learning Happens.
