Renfrew Hydro Inc. is a local distribution company servicing the Town of Renfrew. Our team of dedicated employees is committed to providing an economical, safe and reliable supply of electricity and excellent customer service to our 4,200 residential and business customers in our service area.

Renfrew Hydro Inc. currently has a vacancy for a Customer Accounts Representative and Accounting Clerk. This position is permanent, full-time and offers a competitive salary, benefits package and pension plan.

As a Customer Accounts Representative and Accounting Clerk you will be a front-line contact, responsible for all customer service tasks relating to billing and collection of customer accounts and support inquires. The position will also include general accounting tasks relating to accounts payable processing and payroll.

The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicating with, and educating customers regarding: time of use pricing; energy consumption; conservation; financial assistance programs; and other customer service initiatives.
  • Responding to customer inquiries in a professional and effective manner.
  • Maintaining accurate customer account data using Harris Northstar CIS.
  • Processing service orders for new services; service cancellations; street lights; and tree trimming.
  • Receiving, posting, and daily balancing of customer payments.
  • Set up, calculation and maintenance of payment plans and pre-authorized payments.
  • Follow up activities on past due accounts and returned items.
  • Processing purchase orders and accounts payable invoices.
  • Verifying, tracking and processing timekeeping information for all employees.
  • Adhering to department procedures, company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Other customer service and accounting related duties as assigned.
  • Applicants must have a grade 12 education. Post-secondary education in Business, Office Administration, or Accounting would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a customer service or accounting role.
  • Computer proficiency in MS applications, customer information systems, and Sage Accounting software.
  • An aptitude for mathematics with a strong level of accountability to verify critical information.
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • A good understanding of the electrical industry would be a definite asset (time-of-use pricing, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Distribution System Code, and energy saving initiatives).
