Barry’s Bay Home Hardware Building Centre is looking to expand our team of valued professionals! We are currently recruiting for an Outdoor Power Products Associate for our rentals department. This is a full-time, permanent position.

We are looking for a responsible team player with an eagerness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment. As a growing retail-based establishment, the Outdoor Power Products Associate has many vital duties that vary from operating the rentals desk and POS system to handling customer inquiries and assisting customers in renting products. This role will also assemble and display mechanical equipment and may perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Responds to and handles customer inquiries, requests, and concerns in a timely manner, over the phone, through email, and in person
• Keeps inventory levels appropriate for products and accessories
• Assembles new products as they arrive
• Maintains safe working conditions and adheres to occupational health and safety regulations
• Assists customers with tool and equipment rentals for their projects
• Keeps up to date with in-store promotions, in-store deals, and product locations
• Ensures that retail basic tasks are executed efficiently (e.g., stocking shelves and display areas, changing labels, facing products, maintaining a clean workstation, etc.)
• Plays an active role in the team by openly sharing opinions and ideas on how to improve department success and by participating in meetings and all training as required
• Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of safe operations for each piece of equipment that may be operated and be familiar with all specific safety devices and procedures for specific equipment prior to operation
• Responsible as an employee for health and safety, including working safely within requirements of legislation and policies, reporting hazards, and maintaining a safe and clean environment
• Completes other tasks as required

• A high school diploma is preferred
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays
• Good communication skills and the ability to be professional and courteous when interacting with staff and customers
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment as well as within a team
• Self-motivated with a willingness to continually develop professional skills and knowledge base
• Demonstrated attention to detail with basic mathematical skills
• Excellent customer and communication skills with the ability to remain consistent in professionalism when faced with challenging situations
• Able to perform medium to heavy lifting
