We currently have an opening for a Safety Manager. This is a full-time position.

Reporting to the plant manager, the Safety Manager will be responsible for performing directional plant and company safety-related functions. This role supports the plant manager and supervisors by achieving strategic results in relation to the safety function at the plant level. 

Responsibilities:

• Plans, implements, and coordinates safety programs and procedures in the facility
• Keeps current with any changes in regulations
• Develops manuals, policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulations
• Consistent collaboration with other facility/site safety staff to support consistency and knowledge sharing across all sites
• Articulates the safety vision and plan for the facility and influence the team members to achieve that vision
• Responsible for team member training in areas of safety, regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment
• Performs and administers safety audits and inspects safety facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance
• Analyzes and utilizes data to set safety priorities and develop action plans
• Supports efforts to achieve the facility’s performance KPIs
• Leads all safety initiatives and goals
• Participates in and resolves internal safety investigations
• Models company core values
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety, or a related discipline
• An understanding of all occupational health and safety regulations with an emphasis on Ministry of Labour (MOL) regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in an occupational health and safety environment
• One to three years of knowledge of safety system audits and management
• Demonstrated three to five years of experience in a safety leadership position
• WSIB Level 1 and 2 certified
