Description:

Pathways to Independence provides services to adults with an acquired brain injury or developmental disability, who may also have complex needs. This can include supportive housing options, day, and recreation programs, psychiatric counselling, behaviour therapy, court and justice related services and short-term respite.

Pathways requires casual Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Support Workers to provide case management and assisted living support for adults with an acquired brain injury.

Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the ABI Support Worker supports adults with a brain Injury with homemaking, personal care, community, and personal development skills in accordance with the person’s individual service plan. The ABI Support Worker will implement established strategies and behavior management plans under the general direction of the manager and counsellor. The ABI Support Worker ensures that the person’s services and supports promote their rights, choices, self-determination, independence and builds personal and community living skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a person-centered philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission, and guiding principles.
  • Provide effective services and support to supported persons.
  • Manage and maintain accurate client information and documentation.
  • Participate in and ensure a positive team environment.
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have the following skills/qualifications:

  • Secondary school graduation and a minimum of a one-year post-secondary certificate in human or health services. Proof of education is a condition of employment.
  • Continuing education in developmental disabilities is an asset.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Valid G class driver’s license.
  • Experience supporting adults with brain injuries or other cognitive impairments in a residential, community or independent living environment.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

The successful candidate must be able to perform the job duties as outlined in the job description. All employees at Pathways will be responsible for a commitment to safety. Shifts are typically 12 hours long and include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This role may work with clients who have aggressive behavior.

The above hourly rate includes negotiated rate and permanent compensation enhancement. Pathways to Independence offers a competitive full compensation package that includes benefits and pension packages.
