With our child well-being law, Nigig Nibi Ki-win, now fully in force, the community embraces a step in reconciliation by reclaiming jurisdiction over the safety and well-being of our children, youth and families.
We are recruiting for a Human Relational Services Generalist. This is a one-year contract position working full-time hours. The Human Relational Services Generalist provides support with the recruitment, onboarding and retention of employees to support the growth and development of Nigig Gamik.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the manager to develop job descriptions for newly created positions
- Sets up new employees, including benefit enrollment, orientation information and training
- Assists in analyzing trends in compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain employees
- Provides the first line of contact for staff who may have workplace-related concerns
- Assists in the development of new human relational services policies and in the review of existing policies
- Supports and implements workplace safety, including participating in the workplace health and safety committee
- Conducts file reviews for personnel
- Schedule meetings, appraisals, orientation and or other training
- Assists with back-up coverage for scheduling
- Develop any forms and templates required for recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of employees
- Communicate any workplace or performance issues to employees
- Communicate effectively with external service providers
- Coordinate across various teams to effectively respond to staffing needs

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in human resources, business administration, or a related field
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working towards is an asset
- A minimum of two years of human resources experience
- Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) people in a community-based setting is an asset
- Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and standards
- Understanding of best practices within the field of human resources
- Understanding of legal and reporting requirements of benefit administration, including remittances is an asset
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve and resolve conflicts
- Self-motivated, reliable, thorough, and proactive
- Criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check
