Description:

Ottawa River Power Corporation (ORPC) is a local electrical distribution company serving 11,000 customers in the communities of Almonte, Beachburg, Killaloe, and Pembroke in the beautiful Ottawa Valley.

ORPC is looking for a self-starter IT Network/Systems Administrator to deliver the desired results required by the IT, Engineering and Customer Service Department. The goal is to drive success in all areas that the department covers to maintain a high level of quality for staff and customers of ORPC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer, develop and secure the corporate LANs, WANs and computer systems
  • Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery strategies and network security protocols
  • Satisfy in a timely and complete fashion, all business reporting documentation: timesheets, service orders, request forms, emails, and logs
  • Recommending, scheduling and performing network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Responds to requests for assistance and installations; accurately documents such requests and their resolutions though the IT work order system; regularly communicates with benefactors of open work orders until resolution
  • Troubleshoots a variety of problems and resolves immediately when possible; refers unsolved problems to appropriate third party vendors; monitors problems through ultimate resolution
  • Support and operation of fibre optic network
  • Assuming additional responsibilities and completing special projects as needed or directed
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma in an IT/Networking related program
  • Recent work experience related to position
  • An advanced knowledge of computer networks, hardware, software and server administration
  • Clean criminal record (must be made available during hiring phase)
  • Driver abstract

Preferred:

  • CCNA
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL
  • Two or more years of recent experience administrating Windows Server environments
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory and working with GPOs distribution systems
  • Knowledge of fibre optic communication technologies
  • Experience with CAD and ESRI GIS software

Additional Information

The IT Network/Systems Administrator will encounter a wide variety of environments during their time of employment, such as: confined spaces, working at heights, close proximity to high/medium voltage electrical systems, near vehicle traffic, and areas with high noise. They will also be required to work in adverse weather conditions or in areas of high and low temperatures.

This is a non-union position.
