We are recruiting for a Child Welfare Visit Support Worker. This is a part-time position working 17.5 hours per week out of our Renfrew office.

Child and Family Access Workers are part of a multi-service team tasked with providing children no longer in their family’s care, the opportunity to maintain their relationship with their parents and extended family. The incumbent will assist with completing a variety of visits for families.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance, support, and modeling for families in visit settings.
  • Provide supervision to non-custodial and visiting persons with their children during child welfare access visits.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with the visits and client contact.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information.
  • Troubleshoot and address any issues as required.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Provide feedback to protection and children and youth services workers.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years of relevant post-secondary education (Ie. ECE, SSW, DSW, child and youth worker diploma, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s licence, driver’s abstract and liability insurance
  • Ability to mentor, supervise, instruct and negotiate with parents
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Above-average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Above-average organizational skills, the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Excellent public relations skills, self-discipline and good judgement
  • Knowledgeable about computer-based technologies relevant to report writing, the collection and maintenance of client information
  • Respect for confidentiality
