Support Staff

Mackay Manor provides multi-tiered addiction recovery support and services to individuals throughout the recovery process. Our vision is that each individual reaching out for support will be welcomed and leave with a deeper connection to their own wellness and recovery.
We offer programming for both men and women.

We are currently recruiting several individuals as Support Staff, to fill shifts at the intake centre (formerly the warming centre) in Pembroke. These are contract positions that will end in March 2028. Shifts are 12 hours and run from 8:00am to 8:00pm or from 8:00pm to 8:00am.

Responsibilities:

• The supervision of all clients accessing the intake centre
• Making sure individuals are following the rules and guidelines
• You may be responsible for monitoring residents taking medications

• A diploma as a social service worker or peer support specialist
• An understanding of drug and alcohol abuse and mental health issues
• Good listening and writing skills for proper reporting to clinical staff
• Energetic, enthusiastic and able to be a positive role model
• Demonstrated integrity and honesty
• A mature approach with good communication skills is necessary to work within a broad range of clients and personnel
• Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with clients
• Good record keeping abilities
• An understanding of ethical boundaries and confidentiality
• Comfortable with moderate physical activity
• Bilingualism is an asset

Working Conditions:

You will be working independently in this role. You may be exposed to infections waste, diseases, and conditions including exposure to HIV-AIDS and hepatitis viruses.

You should be available to work overtime as required. For the 12-hour shifts, you are not permitted to leave the building or grounds for any reason.
