Ben Hokum and Son Limited in Killaloe is a progressive and growing sawmill and lumber company. We are the largest producer of red and white pine in Eastern Ontario and our lumber products are well-known in industry circles for their superior quality. Our company employs over 100 people and we sell our products throughout Canada.

We are currently recruiting for a Certified Millwright. This is a full-time position. This role is 44 hours per week, working Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm to 3:00am.

As a Certified Millwright, you will adhere to safety policies and promote a safe working environment by continuous improvement.  You will play a crucial role in ensuring the equipment is running at the optimum level by completing preventive maintenance routes, communicating with your supervisor, and reporting any deficiencies in our computerized maintenance management program.  You will ensure the operators' satisfaction is maintained at high levels.  

Responsibilities:

• Performing on-shift equipment repairs as required
• Performing routine preventative maintenance duties
• Cutting, welding, and performing fabrication as needed
• Identifying mechanical and hydraulic problems and making the necessary repairs
• Changing saws, bands, sprockets, bearings, chains, etc.
• Helping unjam equipment with lumber and logs
• Replacing chains, bearings, and saws
• Lubricating equipment
• Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area

• Certified Millwright
• 2 or more years of experience working in a sawmill or production industrial setting is preferred
• Strong knowledge of sawmill equipment such as conveyors, drive components, chain conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills     
• Have your own tools
• Ability to weld and use cutting equipment
• Must be able to work independently or as a team when required
• Positive and motivated to succeed
