McCrea Excavating Ltd. is a family-owned business that has been serving Eastern Ontario for multiple decades. All our services and equipment are backed by the reputation of high quality, personable and reliable services. Our services include excavating, civil construction, aggregates, float services, rock breakers, landscaping, snow removal and sand, gravel and topsoil.

We currently have an opening for a Gradesman. This is a full-time, seasonal position.

Responsibilities:

• Review project drawings to shoot and check grading needs
• Inspect the job site in advance of the project and note any hazards or areas of concern
• Set grade stakes and note elevation points working with a surveying rod and level
• Direct equipment operators to ensure grade points are met
• Work collaboratively with site personnel and outside contractors and professionals with respect to grading requirements
• Ensure equipment is operating safely and is routinely checked for any mechanical issues

• Previous experience in grading and construction
• Knowledgeable of how to use lasers, levels and other tools
• Experience in working with others to ensure grading and excavation activities are done safely and to drawing specifications
• A good eye for accurate measuring and stake-setting
• A strong communicator with colleagues, contractors and others to ensure project success
• A valid driver’s license.
• Able to work to meet deadlines
• A safety-minded individual aware of safe work practices
