We have a 10-year old daughter with Down syndrome. While she is non-verbal, she understands routines, instructions, expectations, and conversations very well. She is highly independent in many aspects of daily life. She loves art and creative activities, cooking and baking, outdoor play, games, and quiet time.
She thrives on routine and consistency. While she does not have any significant behavioural concerns, she can be stubborn at times and benefits greatly from clear expectations, gentle prompting, encouragement, and well-established routines.
I am recruiting for a Child Care Provider to care my daughter in our home. This role will provide after-school care on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Additional hours will be possible due to parent’s work obligations, PD days and other school breaks.
There are two adults and an additional teenager in our home, as well as pets (a dog and cats). The Child Care Provider’s responsibilities are limited to our daughter.
Responsibilities:
- Follow the established routines to support smooth transitions and continued positive development
- Coordinate after-school activities at the house
- Assist with homework
- Prepare snacks and dinner
- Encourage communication, independence, and life skills
- Support bedtime routines and help her get dressed for bed
- Provide occasional assistance with tasks such as washing her hair
- Perform light housekeeping related to my daughter, including tidying toys, dishes, activity spaces, and laundry when required

Pay rate is dependent upon experience.
If you are interested in an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a little girl, and be an important part of our family’s support system, I would love to hear from you.
