Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AOPFN)is a proud and progressive Algonquin community. Pikwakanagan is situated on the shores of Golden Lake and the Bonnechere River in Renfrew County. Located off Highway 60, our community is 90 minutes west of Ottawa and 90 minutes hours east of Algonquin Park.
We are currently recruiting for a Health Centre Receptionist. This is a full-time, permanent position working 35 hours per week.
The Health Centre Receptionist serves as the first line of intake within the health centre, ensuring efficient communication and functioning of the health services department by directing client encounters to the appropriate services. This role is responsible for representing the health centre positively at reception, while also handling information for community health programs under the guidance of the health services office administrator. The Health Centre Receptionist performs all clerical duties with a strong commitment to confidentiality, respecting the privacy of community members, and consistently upholds the views and policies of the council of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan.
Responsibilities:
- Greeting and assisting the public and staff with general inquiries, and directing the public to the appropriate personnel and recording messages where appropriate
- Ensuring the reception and waiting area is tidy and presentable, keeping reading material current
- Answer general inquiries related to health programs
- Typing of reports, memos, letters and correspondence, etc.
- Maintaining attendance records of all staff
- Filing, photocopying, faxing, arranging courier service, updating bulletin boards, etc.

- Post-secondary education related to administrative support or two years of current work experience in health administrative support or equivalent (client intake in a professional services environment)
- Experience working with computers and various software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
