Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AoPFN) is a proud and progressive Algonquin community. Pikwakanagan is situated on the shores of Golden Lake and the Bonnechere River in Renfrew County. Located off Highway 60, our community is 90 minutes west of Ottawa and 90 minutes hours east of Algonquin Park.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Executive Assistant for the general government department. This is a permanent, full-time, maternity leave coverage position working 35 hours per week for a 14-month contract.
The Senior Executive Assistant will be responsible for providing a high-level of day-to-day operations of the Executive Office. This role will provide assistance to the Executive Director of Operations, facility operations, project management, supervision, IT support and assisting with in meeting the established goals and objectives of the Algonquins of Pikwkanagan.
Responsibilities:
- Developing correspondence, reports, and memos to a variety of audiences, including AOPFN staff, chief, council, and the management team.
- Reviewing incoming correspondence and responding to routine inquiries; delegating as appropriate for action.
- Obtaining monthly management reports for council.
- Planning, organizing and maintaining a records management system for correspondence, minutes, resolutions, and proceedings pertaining to the administration’s programs and employee benefits.
- Assuming responsibility for taking minutes of staff and other meetings, preparing the agenda and meeting information kits.
- Overseeing the Director's schedule, planning, and execution of all arrangements necessary for the preparation of meetings and appointments.
- Establishing procedures and routines to ensure information flows with Pikwakanagan offices and with the council.
- Ensuring all administrative policies and procedures are followed for reporting, financial expenditures, staffing, etc.
- Scheduling meetings with council, administrative, and/or departmental staff on a regular basis to discuss various issues pertaining to the administration or departmental concerns.

- Successful completion of post-secondary education in the administrative field or completion of secondary education with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the administrative field
