Description:

Eganville and District Seniors has partnered with Barry’s Bay and Area Home Support, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan and the Township of Whitewater Region for our home maintenance program. The program provides assistance to clients who can reside at home and require home maintenance services.

We are recruiting for Home Maintenance Workers in the Cobden and LaPasse area. This position can be flexible and based on your schedule and location.

The Home Maintenance Worker is a paid position and assists seniors and adults with disabilities living at home with home maintenance tasks and activities. This service is tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable clients with chronic and/or complex medical needs. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Laundry assistance
  • Assisting with shopping and errands
  • Process documentation
  • General yard and home maintenance
  • Snow removal
  • Spring clean up
  • Debris pick up and removal
  • Comply with public health, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act and other pertinent legislation and corporate policies
  • Promote enhanced services to encourage residents to age well at home
Qualifications
  • Own transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (training available)
  • Experience in the care of the elderly
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate a genuine concern and interest in the well-being of the clients
  • The ability to be tactful, friendly and patient when interacting with the client
  • The ability to operate a lawn mower, snow blower, weed whacker, hedge trimmer, etc. (supplied by the client)
  • Courteous and friendly to family and visitors and work in a cooperative manner with fellow workers in a team environment
  • The physical capabilities compatible with the current physical demands analysis for this position
