Bumpy Roads Studio is a young and thriving pottery studio located in downtown Pembroke. We have developed a successful recipe to guide students on pottery making processes and skills with a strong focus on creating a non-judgmental environment conducive to fun and learning. The Pottery Instructor(s) will play an important part in the design and delivery of our programming.

We are seeking one or two enthusiastic and dedicated Pottery Instructor(s) to join our Studio. These are part-time position working 12-24 hours per week depending on seasons. This includes evenings and some weekends. The expected start for these positions is Spring 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead classes as part of our signature 10-week beginner’s program
- Lead classes part of a 5-week hand-building program
- Provide a safe, inclusive and judgment-free environment for all
- Provide accurate, timely and practical feedback to students
- Collaborate in the development, scheduling and delivery of clay nights
- Collaborate in the development, scheduling and delivery of special summer programming
- Deliver onsite and offsite private events
- Perform general studio maintenance tasks and clean-up after classes and events
- Follow studio guidelines and policies

- Advanced skills at the pottery wheel and hand-building
- 5+ year of experience as maker
- Sound knowledge and experience of various decorative techniques (i.e. use of underglaze, carving, sgraffito, Mishima, water abrasion, slip, etc.)
- Working knowledge of a pottery studio’s health and safety practices
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and/or positive reframing
- Ability to move and handle 50lbs boxes of clay
- Prior experience at teaching pottery an asset
- Willingness to teach to a variety of audiences: adults (year-round), parent-child duos (a few times per year, and teenagers (summer)
- Willingness to have a workload that can vary with the seasons
- Ability to drive to offsite event locations

Pay is $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

- Up to $1,000 per year for workshop development and testing
- A sign-up bonus of $300.
