We are currently recruiting for three Direct Support Providers. These are casual positions supporting work in Pembroke, Petawawa, Renfrew and Eganville.
This position is casual and on an as needed basis. While employees may be scheduled for up to 17.5 hours per week, hours are not regular or guaranteed. Work is occasional and intermittent.
This position is primarily performed in individuals’ homes and community-based settings. Attendance at an agency office may occur on an occasional basis and does not constitute a regular place of work.
The Role
Direct Support Providers (DSPs) play a vital role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities to achieve their individual support plan goals. DSPs foster independence, build life skills, and encourage community participation in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. This role is essential to promoting quality of life, social inclusion, individual choice, and respect for the rights and responsibilities of the people we serve.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with mobility and personal care, including lifts, transfers, and the safe use of mobility equipment
- Facilitate participation in community programs, activities, and social groups
- Implement behaviour plans and other supports
- Encourage and assist individuals to build social networks and meaningful relationships
- Accompany individuals to appointments, meetings, and community events
- Provide safe and reliable transportation
- Maintain accurate documentation of supports, preferences, and activities
- Complete reports, MAR sheets, and other required paperwork
- Communicate challenges, risks, barriers and updates to the case manager
- Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and required training
- Keep the coordinator informed of availability and submit accurate electronic timecards
- Promote safety, health, and well-being in all activities
- Adhere to all applicable agnecy policies and procedures, ministry regulations, standards, directives and relevant legislation
- Responsible for the completion of other related tasks

- A minimum of a secondary school diploma
- A personal support worker (PSW), developmental services worker (DSW), or social services worker (SSW) diploma is preferred
- At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities
- CPI, CPR, abuse prevention, and other relevant training (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to provide safe physical assistance with mobility and personal care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and communities
- Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability to the team
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practice
- Reliable, flexible, and self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and split shifts
