Our growing team currently requires a Junior Civil Technologist-Technician in Arnprior. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Work under direct supervision of the project manager or civil engineer
  • Assist in the completion of projects
  • Complete topographic surveys
  • Assist in preparation of engineering studies, stormwater management reports, and conceptual designs
  • Assist in design for underground services (i.e. storm and sanitary sewers, watermains and culverts) including calculations and drawing production
  • Assist in the design of lot grading, parking lot, road reconstruction and rehabilitation projects including production of drawings
  • Prepare CAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups, and/or design instructions
  • Verify calculations and CAD drawings against sketches to ensure accuracy
  • Support the engineer during design and coordinate with other disciplines
  • Assist in preparation of technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates
  • Assist in shop drawing reviews
  • Undertake the site review of civil construction projects including the preparation of field observation reports
  • Observe and review contractor work for conformity to contract documents, specification, and construction practices
  • Complete quantity measurements for preparation of payment certifications
  • Maintain red-line construction as-builts
  • Prepare CAD version of construction as-builts drawings
  • Assist in researching new systems, resources, and working practices to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability
  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques, codes, and standards; sustain and improve technical skills
  • Attend coordination meetings
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
  • Share expertise with colleagues and other Jp2g offices
  • Manage work tasks within assigned time constraints
  • Complete tasks independently when required
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of professional experience
  • Diploma from a civil technician or technology program
  • Eligible for OACETT certification
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain Level II secret clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada
  • Ability to work independently and in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects
  • Sound communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D and working knowledge of Office 365
