Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley (CLUOV) supports local adults with intellectual disabilities by providing assistance with employment opportunities, housing (including independent living), respite care and personal support with day-to-day activities. Our vision is to assist in building an inclusive community, where individuals with intellectual disabilities are included in community life. The people we support are between the ages of 18 and 70.
We are currently recruiting for a Payroll and Finance Clerk. This is a full-time position working up to 37.5 hours per week.
Specific duties include processing payroll, benefit and pension plan deductions, accruals and allocation reports, purchasing, addressing contractual needs for property management, ensuring organizational processes are accountable and fiscally responsible. Supporting the finance department, this position will work along side members of the Admin and HR department to assist with organizational operations as outlined below.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Reviews and processes payroll in accordance with agency pay schedule, checks for accuracy, and makes adjustments
- Inputs into payroll software, reviews edit reports and transmits payroll
- Distributes pay stub advice
- Processes employee benefits, pension plan and other payroll deductions
- Preparation of monthly remittances
- Completes and distributes individual employee tax statements, T4s, and supplementary forms
- Develops reports on payroll metrics monthly
- Assists members of the finance team, addressing accounts payable and receivable
- Assists with processing supply requests, billing, banking, and accounting reports
- Serves as a point of contact for property repairs including co-ordination of contracts and contractors
- Ensures on-going property and equipment maintenance are addressed and documented
- Completes audits for all properties

- A business diploma or degree in accounting, commerce, business management or a similar field
- Experience processing payroll
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act (ESA), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) reporting and preparation and distribution of T4 records
- Experience working with collective agreements and union deductions
- Solid organization skills and the ability to manage time and deadlines
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in compiling, validating and analyzing time, payroll and accounting data
- Able to modify and extract reports from raw data using MS Excel
- Able to provide sound judgment and exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion while working with sensitive and private information
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite
Assets:
- Knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services reporting or experience working with non-profit organizations
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association or the ability to work towards certification
- Experience working with WSIB certificates, contracts and procurement
- Experience working with ComVida and Simply Accounting
- Experience with administering OMERS pension plan
