Marianhill is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization that provides long-term care, community support services, and palliative and hospice care services. Marianhill is accredited with exemplary standing.
We are growing our team to enhance the care at Marianhill in response to the new Fixing Long-Term Care Act. We are currently recruiting for a Unit Manager. This is a full-time position working 75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday.
Under the direction of the Director of Care, the Unit Manager assists with the provision of resident care. Duties are performed in accordance with Marianhill’s mission statement, established policies and procedures, current legislation and in a manner that respects the uniqueness, dignity, worth, self-respect, self-determination and autonomy of our residents to promote maximum independence.
Responsibilities:
- Performs direct clinical care (i.e. skin and wound) clinical assessments and ensures proper updates to the resident's plan of care.
- Evaluates required clinical programs such as falls prevention, skin and wound care, palliative care and quality of life programs.
- Responds promptly to concerns of residents and family members, mediating a satisfactory response to concerns and implementing action plans to avoid recurrence of similar issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned applicable within nursing and management roles.
- Excellent attendance is required and expected.

- Current Registered Nurse (RN) diploma or degree with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Management or supervisory experience in a unionized long-term care setting is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in long-term care is preferred.
- Computer and typing proficiency to enter and retrieve data in electronic clinical records.
- Experience with email, Internet research, use of online calendars and other software applications.
- Oral and written proficiency in English.
- Oral and written proficiency in French is preferred.
- Required vaccinations, including but not limited to influenza, etc. as well as proof of a 2-Step Mantoux TB Skin Test dated within the last year with a current updated 1-Step.
- An original, clear vulnerable sector criminal record check dated within the last 6 months
- An education certificate, diploma or other credentials must be provided
- Participate in the N95 mask fit testing program as applicable.
