In February 2026, the Ontario government expanded access to high-quality mental health and addictions care with the launch of a new Homeless and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) hub in Renfrew County.

HART Hubs connect people to a range of treatment and recovery services, including primary care, mental health services, addictions care, social services and employment supports. The County of Renfrew MESA HART Hub is now operational and delivering services in collaboration with partners including the Renfrew Pembroke Regional Hospital and the Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre, working together to connect people with the supports they need, when they need them.

The Intake Centre HART Hub (warming centre in Pembroke) is recruiting for Support Staff. There are casual, part-time and full-time hours available. Shifts include:8:00am-8:00pm, 8:00pm-8:00am and 4:00pm-8:00pm. These are contract positions until March 2028.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all clients accessing the intake-warming centre.
  • Ensure individuals follow established rules, guidelines, and safety expectations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the environment.
  • Support a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment.
  • Complete clear and accurate record-keeping, logs, and reports.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and community partners.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of substance use and recovery to support clients effectively.
  • Strong integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Mature approach with excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certificate in addiction and community service worker or diploma in social service work (SSW), peer support, or equivalent education and experience.
  • CPR-First Aid or willing to obtain.
  • Knowledge of substance use health, mental health and recovery principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain clear boundaries and ethical conduct.
  • Reliable documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Calm, professional, respectful approach in challenging situations.
Additional Information

This positon involves moderate physical activity (i.e., walking, stairs, standing, sitting, some lifting). There is the possibility of exposure to infections, waste, illnesses, and potential contact with HIV-AIDS or hepatitis viruses.

Overtime may be required. You must remain on-site for the full shift.
