Description:

ontrac Employment Resource Services provides professional and confidential services to those seeking employment and training, as well as local employers seeking assistance in their hiring and training needs. Our Perth office is looking for a Job Developer to join our team on a full-time basis at 35 hours per week. 

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates enthusiasm in meeting ontrac’s expectations and standards which include customer focused service, collaborative team performance and a high level of professionalism. The successful candidate will see value in being part of a cohesive team, is someone who will thrive in a results-oriented environment, puts people first, and can engage with clients regardless of their socio-economic circumstances.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing case management and administrative responsibilities
  • Capture, record and maintain confidential information including initial assessments to determine appropriate services and supports
  • Identify employer needs and match client skills and abilities/goals to employment opportunities
  • Conduct initial client needs assessments to determine appropriate services and supports, identifying client goals and a way forward
  • Understand the challenges facing individuals who are unemployed and advocate on behalf of individuals requiring assistance to employers and other service providers
  • Devise, plan and implement job coaching strategies based on client and employer needs
  • Support clients with learning on-the-job tasks and responsibilities as well as navigating social, cultural and behavioural aspects of the workplace
  • Keep track, oversee and document clients’ progress using internal recording systems
  • Provide ongoing support to both clients and employers during work placements
Qualifications
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with Employment Ontario programs is an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation, or the ability to travel
  • Career Development Practitioner certification or the willingness to obtain
  • Clean vulnerable sector check
  • Previous professional experience in job development and/or coaching adults within the field of employment with case management responsibilities is a strength
  • A working knowledge of job search techniques, tools, resources and programs available to support employment and training/retraining of unemployed persons
  • Able to work independently off-site while representing ontrac in a variety of settings, employer meetings, monitoring visits, events, etc., including on occasion participating in before and after hours activities
  • An understanding of vulnerable and marginalized populations, local labour market, ontrac community partners, social services, and educational institutes in our area
