The Renfrew County District School Board is currently recruiting for an Assistant Manager, Human Resources - Attendance, Abilities & Integrated Wellness. This is a full-time position.
Under the direction of the Manager, Human Resources, the Assistant Manager, Human Resources - Attendance, Abilities & Integrated Wellness is responsible for the comprehensive implementation and administration of the district’s abilities management program, attendance support program and wellness program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage short-term and long-term sick leave entitlements, including long-term disability applications, from onset to full resolution, overseeing caseloads for employees at different stages of the absence process.
- Request, review, and adjudicate medical documentation to determine access to sick leave entitlements and opportunities for early invention to support workplace accommodations.
- Prepare correspondence to obtain additional medical information from treating physicians when required.
- Administer the district’s abilities management program, including implementation of individualized workplace accommodations, return to work plans (RTW) and remain at work (RAW) plans.
- Lead and facilitate RTW/RAW meetings with all relevant parties (employee, LTD carrier, union, supervisors and principals).
- Arrange for third-party independent medical evaluations when required.
- Provide consultation on accommodations, including investigating the need for ergonomic assessments or the acquirement of assistive devices.
- Manage the district’s attendance support program and provide guidance to the integrated employee support specialist on the administration of the program.
- Monitor, analyze, track, and identify trends of absenteeism through attendance data.
- Facilitate and lead attendance support meetings.
- Support, collaborate with and provide guidance to the integrated employee support specialist to develop organizational wellness strategies, initiatives, and projects.
- Respond to queries related to sick leave access, accommodations, attendance support and abilities management.
- Maintain current working knowledge of all applicable legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Employment Standards Act (ESA), and Privacy laws (FIPPA).
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all documentation as legally and ethically required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in human resources or a related field.
- Professional designation required; Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) is preferred (Obtaining and maintaining the designation is a condition of employment).
- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation is an asset.
- Experience working in a multi-unionized environment, preferably in the education or public sector, is an asset.
- A minimum of five to seven years of experience in abilities case management, attendance support programs and workplace accommodation.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex case management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and negotiation skills, including the ability to explain complex issues with precision and clarity.
- Strong analytical thinking and demonstrated ability in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Exceptional planning, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and process files efficiently and within required timelines.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable legislation (WSIA, OHRC, ESA).
- Valid Ontario driver's license and use of a reliable personal vehicle.
