Nigig Nibi-Ki-win Gamik is an Indigenous child and family well-being organization rooted in Algonquin jurisdiction and community values. Our team supports the staff working directly with child, youth and families.
We are recruiting for a Data Sovereignty & Systems Lead. This is a full-time position.
The Data Sovereignty & Systems Lead is responsible for organizational efforts related to quality improvement, data management, and privacy enhancement. This role will be the administrator of Nigig Gamik’s case management system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures the timely collection and safe storage of client and client-related information from outside agencies
- Ensure effective privacy parameters are created and maintained
- Oversees the collection, management, and quality of the data
- Ensures data systems and practices are culturally safe, strengths-based, and support inherent jurisdiction, prevention and family wellness outcomes
- Supervises and supports intake workers
- Leads the enhancement and use of data for operational decision-making, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Provides oversight to the Intake and navigation team
- Monitors workflow expectations and provides feedback and encouragement to team members
- Develops workflow systems to be utilized by staff to optimize information sharing with appropriate departments and co-workers
- Develops a working relationship with all external organizations as may be involved or working in conjunction with Nigig Gamik
- Liaises with Family & Children Services and other external organizations as necessary
- Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to staff with respect to data integrity

- Bachelor’s degree information systems, data science, public administration, social work, or a related discipline
- A master’s degree is preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and lived/work experience in indigenous data governance and social services may be prioritized
- Demonstrated understanding of OCAP principles
- Proven experience leading or supporting the implementation of case management systems or client information systems in human services
- Experience overseeing other staff
- Experience working with a First Nation is an asset
- Experience working with indigenous communities is a must
- Knowledge of OCAP principles, policy and procedure creation and integration, and report building
- Knowledge and understanding of Nigig’s interest in children, youth and families
- Child, Youth & Family Services Act (Ontario) and its application and proceedings involving First Nation members
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and a high level of professionalism
- Able to travel and work flexible hours at times
- An acceptable vulnerable sector check
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Class G driver’s license and a driver’s abstract
