The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Skilled Operator-Landfill Operator II. This is a full-time, permanent position, 40 hours per week, working as a Skilled Operator from November to April and transitioning to a Landfill Operator II from May through October each year.

As a Skilled Operator, you will be responsible for operating winter maintenance equipment to ensure safe and accessible roadways (including shoveling) during snow and ice events. This role is also responsible for maintenance, repairs, cleaning and general upkeep of town infrastructure. The Landfill Operator II responsibilities play an important role in working with customers, spotting trucks, directing users, and handling, sorting, managing, compacting and covering materials received at the landfill using equipment that is provided.

• Possession of a valid Ontario DZ driver’s licence in good standing.
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in municipal public works, landfill operations or related field is an asset.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in landfill operations, heavy equipment operation, or a related field. (e.g. loaders, backhoes, trackless, plow trucks and landfill compactors).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Completion of, or willingness to obtain, Basic Landfill Operator Training through SWANA.
• Physically fit and able to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to operate computer applications and point of sale systems.
• Satisfactory criminal record check.
