General Maintenance Class 1 Labourer (Casual)

Situated on the beautiful Ottawa River, Pembroke is a vibrant city of 16,200 that is renowned as “the heart of the Ottawa Valley.” Pembroke is the key commercial sector of the area with a mix of small and large businesses, a vibrant downtown core, and a quality of life that combines culture, sport, and nature.

We are currently recruiting for a three General Maintenance Class 1 Labourers for the roads and fleet department. These are casual positions that fill vacancies from November 2025 to April 2026.

The General Maintenance Class 1 Labourer operates city equipment for the maintenance and repair to the city’s road network system.

Responsibilities include:

• Operate trucks, dump trucks, sand spreaders, lawn mowers and other tools and small equipment
• Perform general road maintenance, pothole filling, ditching works, repairing washouts, shouldering, resurfacing and sidewalk repairs
• Load, haul and unload various materials and supplies.
• Be involved in winter snow operations, including snow removal, sanding, salting, and ploughing of sidewalks

• Grade 12 education
• Valid DZ Ontario driver’s license
• 6 months of experience in the operation of trucks, including dump trucks
• 6 months of experience in general maintenance
• Experience or trainability in mechanics
• Basic computer skills
• Good communication skills
• Able to lift up to 50lbs
