The Township of Madawaska Valley is comprised of Barry's Bay, Combermere and Wilno - three unique communities with recreation facilities, schools, festivities and churches that form the basis of community life. The Township of Madawaska Valley is currently accepting applications for a Labourer, Public Works. This is a full-time position working in the public works department. The Labourer provides a variety of construction, maintenance, repair and emergency response services related to municipal infrastructure with a focus on public safety and convenience.

The responsibilities may include:

• Conducting general maintenance functions for roads, waste sites, parks and recreation areas
• Contributing to construction projects and paving preparation
• Repairing and installing signs
• Trimming and removing trees and brush adjacent to roadways
• Maintaining good condition of roads and sidewalks during the winter months by snow plowing, salting and sanding
• Identifying maintenance problems and most cost-effective and practical method to correct
• Providing curbside environmental services and waste management duties as required

• Previous operations experience
• Possess a valid class G driver’s license
• A clean driver’s abstract
• OSSD (Grade 12) or equivalent education
• Job-related courses in the operation, maintenance and construction of roads is an asset
• Mechanically inclined and able to repair small equipment breaks
• A self-motivated individual
