The Township of Bonnechere Valley encompasses the villages of Eganville, Grattan, Sebastopol and South Algona. The main village of Eganville is located at the junction of Highways 41 and 60, a major transportation route in Renfrew County. The municipality is known for its lakes and rivers, especially the Bonnechere River which flows directly through the village.

The Township of Bonnechere Valley is recruiting for a Sanitation Assistant. This is a part-time position working Tuesdays and Thursdays, approximately 12 to 15 hours per week.

The Sanitation Assistant visits numerous residential and commercial locations on a bi-weekly to collect, transport and dispose of garbage in a safe, effective and environmentally friendly manner. This role also ensures recyclables such as glass, paper and plastic are correctly separated.

• Must be punctual, motivated, and a self-starter
• Able to work without supervision
• Good interpersonal skills to communicate politely and effectively with the public
• Knowledge of provincial requirements for waste disposal
• In good physical health to respond to the demands of the job, with long periods of standing
• In good physical health to work on the back of the garbage truck and be able to get on and off the back of the truck
• Able to lift 50 pounds and work in a waste site environment which can be subject to heat, cold and dusty conditions etc.
