We are recruiting for a Library Support Services Clerk. Work hour will vary up to 41.5 hours per pay period.

The Library Services Support Clerk works collaboratively to provide exceptional customer service by responding to information queries, providing access to library resources and services, troubleshooting technology questions, and providing access to materials.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Bibliographic services, shelf-ready processing of materials and repairs
  • Assist in providing circulation and information services to the public including circulation services, reader’s advisory, and reference and information services.
  • Assist users with choosing popular and recreational reading, viewing and listening choices
  • Provide search and retrieval of requested information
  • Assist patrons to find answers to their questions about mobile devices related to internet, printing or library services (i.e. ebooks)
  • Performs basic troubleshooting procedures for computer hardware and peripherals
  • Responsible for the library (i.e. client concerns, security, closing, etc.) in the absence of senior staff
  • Prepares statistics and reports
  • Performs other duties consistent with job responsibilities
Qualifications
  • A high school graduate with a preference for someone with post-secondary education in a relevant field
  • 6 months of relevant experience in a customer service, educational, or library environment
  • An understanding of computerized information services, databases and records
  • Experience with standard computer facilities such as data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Comfortable explaining the usage of common digital technology to the public

This position is part of the CUPE Local 24-03. The starting rate is $27.87 per hour.

This position is expected to be available for work on a two-week rotation. Subject to shift availability:

  • Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, Friday afternoons, Saturday days
  • Week 2: Monday days, Tuesday evening, Wednesday and Thursday days
