The Township of Greater Madawaska is seeking a forward-thinking and highly motivated professional to join our team as Manager of Planning and Development. This is a full-time position.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to guide land use planning, development, and building services in a vibrant and growing rural community.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Manager of Planning and Development is responsible for preparing and implementing policies, plans, and bylaws; reviewing land development applications; and overseeing key staff in planning and building.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and implement the official plan, zoning bylaw, secondary plans, development guidelines, and related regulatory tools.
- Review and report on development applications to council and the committee of adjustment, and manage appeals and settlements.
- Supervise and mentor departmental staff.
- Provide expert advice to council, staff, developers, and the public on planning and development matters.
- Represent the township at public meetings, workshops, and Ontario Land Tribunal hearings.

- University degree in planning or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of progressively municipal planning experience.
- Full membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Planning Act, Municipal Act, Building Code Act, Condominium Act, and provincial policy.
- Proven leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and GIS software
