The Municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes is seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to join our team as Assistant Director General. This is a permanent, full-time administrative position.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Director General and municipal councils to support the administration and development of our community. We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic municipal environment where priorities may evolve and collaboration is essential.

This position may also support governance and administrative coordination across partner municipalities as part of ongoing shared service initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

Council and Governance Support:

  • Assist in the preparation and organization of regular and special council meetings
  • Help draft resolutions, bylaws, meeting minutes, and reports
  • Ensure municipal procedures and legislative requirements are respected
  • Maintain legislative records and support the publication of required public notices

Administration and Operations:

  • Assist the Director General in coordinating municipal administration and daily operations
  • Support supervision and coordination of municipal staff and departments
  • Assist with financial administration, project tracking, and contract monitoring
  • Contribute to improving internal procedures and administrative systems

Strategic Projects and Coordination:

  • Assist with the coordination of major municipal initiatives and shared services
  • Help prepare reports, briefing notes, and documentation for council and partners
  • Support the development of intermunicipal agreements and partnerships
  • Monitor project timelines, funding requirements, and program reporting

Acting Director General (when required):

  • Provide administrative leadership in the absence of the Director General
  • Represent the municipality at meetings or with partners when delegated
  • Assist with oversight of municipal operations and staff coordination
Qualifications
  • College or university education in public administration, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working in municipal administration is an asset
  • Previous experience as a municipal director, assistant director general, clerk-treasurer, or department manager is an asset
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and work independently as required
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written, is required
