The Township of Whitewater Region is recruiting for a Roads Lead Hand. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
Reporting to the Roads Superintendent, the Roads Lead Hand is responsible to provide day-to-day supervision and assist in the coordination of all road activities and operations. This includes supporting the administration of a comprehensive program of construction and maintenance of public roads and assists within the road corridor to meet minimum maintenance standards.

- Grade 12 or equivalent, combined with three years of public works or road construction experience.
- Course in T.J. Mahoney Roads School and/or C.S. Anderson Road School required or willing to obtain.
- Certified Road Supervisor (CRS) designation preferred or willing to obtain.
- One year of supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to lead strategically and direct staff.
- Previous experience with asset or project management.
- Construction and maintenance of public works infrastructure knowledge, best practices, methods, materials and equipment including procedures, principles and practices pertaining to traffic control.
- Good interpersonal skills working in a team coupled with an ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
- Excellent project and time management; problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently including working remotely in the assigned corporate vehicles and equipment utilizing technology and other work tools to ensure operations are conducted in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.
- Experience operating light and heavy equipment.
- Water distribution and wastewater collection or construction knowledge is an asset.
- Ability to be on call 24 hours per day with flexibility in hours of work.
- Basic computer proficiency and report writing.
- Valid Ontario class G driver’s licence; DZ license preferred.
- Able to work in conditions that include exposure to physical hazards and inclement weather conditions such as blizzards, white-outs, ice storms, fog, etc.
