We are recruiting for a Family Liaison Officer This is an indefinite, full-time contract to start August 2026. This role is 37.5 hours per week, working Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm with some evenings required.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts sessions and/or offers short-term support to individuals and families in crisis in multiple areas
  • Provides grief counselling to families experiencing loss
  • Participates in Assisting Officer (AO) training and delivers AO services to families
  • Attends and participates in staff and case management meetings held by the local transition centre
  • Helps professional multidisciplinary teams
  • Participates in and attends the family crisis team (FCT) and helping professional steering committees
  • Acts as an advocate on behalf of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families coping with illness, injury, loss, special needs and/or systemic issues
  • Provides family case management and resource coordination in meeting family needs

This position is employed by the PMFRC, supervised by the PMFRC clinical manager however it is physically located in an office in the Garrison Petawawa Transition Centre.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, or a related field
  • Several years of experience providing direct services in social work, counselling, or a related field
  • Registration and good standing with local regulatory body (OCSWSSW or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario)
  • Language: English and French is an asset
  • CRP, First Aid, mental health First Aid, suicide intervention and crisis intervention certifications are assets

Experience in:

  • Crisis intervention and risk management
  • Emergency response to critical incidents
  • Data entry, record-keeping, and retrieval techniques
  • Using one or more of the recognized evidence-based approaches for psychosocial services as outlined in the “MFSP Mental Health Services Framework”
  • Networking with community resources
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Psychosocial counselling using evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Client assessment and case management

Conditions of Employment:

  • Adhere to all PMFRC policies and procedures including policies regarding privacy code and confidentiality.
  • Participate in and assist with all special events when required.
  • Provide proof of any applicable registration with the respective regulatory body if applicable.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check, obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance, and vulnerable sector screening (current within 6 months).
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel and requisite driver’s insurance.
  • Understanding of Canadian Armed Forces communities, systems, and policies to effectively assist families in accessing appropriate services and supports.
