Nigig Nibi Ki-win Gamik Society is growing our team! 

Join our dynamic and dedicated team as we continue to develop capacity within the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation and the greater unceded Algonquin territory. With our child well-being law, Nigig Nibi Ki-win, now fully in force, the community embraces a step in reconciliation by reclaiming jurisdiction over the safety and well-being of our children, youth and families.

We are recruiting for Summer Program Support Staff. These are part-time, contract positions for three months.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates group activities and programs with children, youth and adults.
  • Greets and assists the public and staff with general inquires, directing the public to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assists the program lead(s) in the facilitation of program plans.
  • Organizes, coordinates activities, facilities for meeting places, resource people, transportation for excursions, materials and an agenda for all meetings and workshops.
  • Assists in the meal planning for various programs and facilitate the preparation of meals and snacks as required.
  • Runs errands and gathers required materials for various programs.
  • Collects feedback from program participants and collaborates with the department for continuous improvement.
  • Attends and participates in all programming.
  • Tracks and monitors activities during programs.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education related to social services, early childhood education, child and youth worker program, recreation, or Grade 12 with relevant work experience
  • Experience operating recreational vehicles including boats, other watercraft, snow machines, ATVs etc.
  • Valid national lifeguard certification is an asset
  • Class G driver’s license, access to a dependable vehicle and the ability to obtain passenger insurance
  • A clear police record check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Enjoy working directly with children and youth
  • Experience with computers, MS software programs, and the internet
  • Experience in general office procedures and practices
  • Ability to deal with constant interruptions and varied clientele
  • Conduct oneself in a professional, unbiased manner
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certificate (or willing to obtain)
