Miller Timber Mart is a trusted supplier of building materials, serving contractors, builders, and homeowners with top-quality lumber and construction products. Our store handles lumber and building materials, tools, hardware, paint, plumbing, electrical, ventilation, heating, household goods and more. Our services include lumber cutting, filling of propane tanks, tool rentals and assisting service contractors.
We are currently recruiting for a Contractor Associate to join our store. This is a full-time position.
In this role, you will be the main point of contact for contractors and builders, providing expert product knowledge, processing orders, and ensuring every project runs smoothly from quote to delivery.
What you’ll do:
- Provide knowledgeable and professional customer service to contractors and trade clients
- Prepare accurate quotes, process orders, and manage special product requests
- Handle cash transactions
- Maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and suppliers
- Manage POS systems and ensure proper merchandising of products
- Collaborate with the yard, and delivery department to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders
- Stay current on product knowledge, pricing, and industry trends
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone
- Assist with inventory management and ensure the contractor sales area is organized and well-maintained
- Manage time effectively to balance customer service duties with sales goals

- Strong communication, and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience in building materials, construction supply, or a related retail environment is an asset
- Proficiency in POS systems, cashiering, cash handling, and basic math skills for accurate transactions
- A positive, professional attitude with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction
- Understand blueprints and perform take-offs
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Time management skills to prioritize duties efficiently during busy periods
- Knowledge of retail operations including sales techniques, merchandising, and product knowledge
