BGC Renfrew County is a non-profit organization that has been in operation since 1966. The organization helps youth, ranging in age from pre-school to young adulthood, to play, learn and develop skills to help them achieve their full potential and grow up to be healthy, successful and active participants in society. BGC Renfrew County provides a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

We are recruiting for a Summer Day Camp Leader. This is a seasonal, full-time position.

Responsibilities:

• Create a welcoming, caring environment for children and their families that encourages daily participation
• Maintain a safe environment for children during programs, while transporting and on field trips
• Develop program plans and implement, fun, engaging, creative activities to help promote self-expression
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills with a team, supervisors, and other professionals
• Ensure that all equipment is functional and in safe working condition
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, volunteers, parents, and children
• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training
• Maintain and uphold the BGC Renfrew County mission statement and core values

• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR C
• Able to provide a current vulnerable sector check
• High Five certified - principles of healthy child development (or willing to acquire)
• Experience working with children and youth
• Strong supervision, facilitation, leadership, and recreation skills
• Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
• A graduate of or currently registered student in a post-secondary program related to working with children and families, or equivalent experience
