Program and Volunteer Coordinator

Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network
Location: Pembroke, Ontario
Posted: April 17th 2024
Description:

The Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network, known as CPAN to many, has a mission to work with donors, volunteers, service providers, partners, and the community to help reduce and relieve poverty for families living in Renfrew County. We have core programs that relieve poverty through benefit distribution and we invest our resources in attracting people who can make the difference in our poverty reduction activities that tackle the systems, education, and tools we need to create lasting change together.

We are hiring a full-time Program and Volunteer Coordinator. We are seeking an individual who shares the CPAN values and wants to help make a difference working alongside a small staff team and a large volunteer community. Office weekly hours of 35 - 37.5 are based on personal preference, working in Downtown Pembroke, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends scheduled in advance. Your team will include 2-3 staff and the board of directors.

The Program and Volunteer Coordinator is the face of CPAN. This person is who our clients and core volunteers will interact with the most. The primary responsibilities of the job are to ensure our programs run smoothly, are informed by the most contemporary inclusion practices, and reach the people who need our benefits in the region.

Qualifications

For programs to run smoothly, we need someone who is:

  • organized,
  • self-starting,
  • open to learning,
  • a planner,
  • a dedicated communicator who follows up,
  • good with people of all diverse backgrounds, and
  • someone who can improve what we do ongoing using evidence-based approaches.

We wish to attract a person who is also informed and practiced in the principles of inclusion. At CPAN we have a set of commitments we make in this area and we are seeking a leader to uphold them on the ground level.

Our county is vast and complex. Hiring someone who knows how to be resourceful when getting things done in challenging circumstances is essential. This means someone who is solution-driven and can move past or over the barriers to reaching people is essential to success in the role.

At CPAN, we value hiring the right people based on values and characteristics first, and then we look at skill and training needs second. We are invested in hiring a person with diverse lived experience who can help to inform our approach and help educate people around them about what’s important when offering help to others.

A diploma in Social Service Work is ideal for this role, or a similar education level in another field complemented by volunteerism or community work that informs the social service part of the role. We also welcome applications from those without college diplomas when experience on the job is aligned with those educational outcomes.

The details about the job requirements are:

  • Wage range of $22.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience
