ConnectWell Community Health is a fully accredited health centre providing primary health care, health promotion programs, and illness prevention services. At ConnectWell, the health and well-being of every individual, every family, and every community matters. Our staff includes family doctors, nurse practitioners and nurses, a social worker, a respiratory therapist, a chiropodist, a health promoter, and administrative support. Together, we provide a wide range of primary care and health promotion programs and services to area residents.

ConnectWell Community Health is recruiting a Social Worker. This position is 28 hours per week and can be filled by one candidate working the full commitment or two candidates working less hours to collectively achieve the total commitment.

The Social Worker or Psychotherapist supports the functioning and independence of clients of ConnectWell Community Health who are over the age of 18 and seeking support for mental health issues. This position works within the values and objectives of ConnectWell Community Health and provides counselling services within the social determinants of health framework. This includes assessment, counselling, crisis intervention supports, and facilitation of mental health and wellness groups.

Qualifications
  • A Master of Social Work or a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling with clinical counseling or psychotherapy (or working towards)
  • Complementary education to support the position (i.e. trauma-informed counselling, CBT, or couples counselling)
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with clients who have mental health issues
  • Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in clinical assessment, psychosocial counseling techniques, and therapeutic models of intervention
  • Additional training or experience in attachment, mindfulness, CBT, solution-focused and narrative therapy, and other current practice models in the theory and treatment of mental health challenges and trauma
  • The ability to work flexible hours (occasional evenings and weekends) based on program needs as required
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritize
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Additional Information

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package for those working 17.5 hours per week or more, and HOOPP.
