Board of Directors, Renfrew County CPAN

Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network
Location: Pembroke, Ontario
Posted: April 17th 2024
Description:

Calling all values-driven community leaders!

Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network, commonly known locally as CPAN, is making some changes and is in need of volunteer leaders to join our board of directors.

As you may have heard, CPAN moved away from the sponsor-organization model and chose to become an independent organization and charity on April 1, 2022. We are embarking on a new journey and require people who think differently and can help us do the work as we transition to a revived state.

We have five strong leaders specializing in mental health, banking, teaching, law, and health care making up the board of directors at this time. Our board is supported by staff, program volunteers, and a long history of awards and accolades as a local charity serving children and youth in need for more than 20 years.

We are seeking additional support from folks who are passionate about poverty reduction in Renfrew County and know that it takes a village to raise a child.

The areas of interest for our recruitment efforts include folks:

  • who are parents or caregivers to young children,
  • who have event-planning and fundraising experience,
  • who bring service contract and asset management expertise,
  • who have skills in research and data analysis,
  • who can deliver presentations and advocate for our work,
  • who create dynamic communications, and
  • who have human resources, compensation, and benefits skills to share.

We are also open to others who may have something completely different to offer!

We meet once per month as a group and each member takes on specific tasks to support our roles at the meeting and to advance the organizational priorities.

Our main priorities for the upcoming two fiscal periods are:

  • To make use of the dynamic modernization tools we have invested in with local community foundation grant funds - our network system and new website.
  • To improve the fundraising events and donor relations because we are doing great work with even better communications.
  • To better coordinate and support our volunteer network, transforming our action network into a revived concept - the village - where supported local connections make asking for help and helping more possible, more quickly.
  • To expand the Friends of CPAN initiatives in joint fundraising efforts, mobilization of people for change in grass-roots models, and educational efforts.
  • To measure and evaluate our current programs for strategic development or transition,
  • To work towards the development of a regional poverty reduction strategy in collaboration with others, as a supporting party or leader, whichever is required.

Please email us to request a copy of the application or to speak with one of our staff about this opportunity.  We are so looking forward to collaborating with you and helping the folks of Renfrew County feel more secure in their lives.
